TechTip of the Month Contest Winner of April 2005:
TomWaltz's tip and downloadable Marker Object to be used with the section/elevation tool for interior elevations!
- "We use the SectionElevation tool for our Interior Elevations. We use the elevation marker in Floor Plan so it looks like an Interior Elevation tag instead of a section marker. Some rooms are very small like toilet rooms and we need 2 arrows instead of just one. Does Archicad have an object we can choose that allows for this. We also want the tag to automatically to put the number in from plotmaker. We would aim the section elevation to the first interior elevation and then put in extra interior elevations that wouldn't show up in plan. THis way the interior elvation on the floor plan would be correct and we would just have one long interior elvation in plotmaker made up of the 2 or 3 or 4 elevations. [...]Any ideas?"
- "We have a custom elevation marker, which is just one arrow that is hotspot-editable to be able to move the marker. One section is placed facing each direction, then the markers are moved to align with each other. The text in the middle of the arrows finds the drawing and sheet number (4/A4.1), but the letters in the arrows (A, B, C) are set to read the last character of the name of the section, so users are instructed to name their elevations "Kitchen Elevation A."
I also threw in text in a non-plotting pen which shows the section ID number to make them easier to find in Navigator.
Seems to work pretty well so far."
Thanks to TomWaltz for being generous and sharing his Marker Object with the ArchiCAD-Talk Community. You can read the whole thread here:

and also download a .PLA file containing Tom's Marker object. GDL freaks will now how to modify the object to match their needs...
Thanks Tom! Great tip and great contribution...
