The Object Libraries shipped or created with ArchiCAD 9 don’t work with ArchiCAD 7.0 or earlier versions together. New Library Parts (from version ArchiCAD 8.1 or 9) are equipped with new GDL commands, which cannot be understood by earlier ArchiCAD versions.
Old Library Parts can be used in ArchiCAD 9 though.

At the time of ArchiCAD update we advise you to create a copy of your old Library, before you would use it in ArchiCAD 9. The old Library Part that was opened and edited in ArchiCAD 9 cannot be used with earlier versions of ArchiCAD and will be only partly compatible with AC 9.

In ArchiCAD 9 you can use an Archive file (PLA) as a library. In this case the program won’t extract the library and can load it much faster than a ‘normal’ library usage. The librarystucture will the same as in the archive file.
