ArchiCAD Library 10 Subset

ArchiCAD Library subset is first provided with ArchiCAD 11, to ease the transition between ArchiCAD 10 and ArchiCAD 11. The goal of the Library Subset is to enable you to start using the ArchiCAD 11 library while ensuring that library parts placed in ArchiCAD 10 are unchanged when the project is opened in ArchiCAD 11. Library Subsets can be downloaded from the ArchiCAD Goodies page (which is accessible through ArchiCAD Help menu).

How to use the library Subset

Example: In your ArchiCAD 10 project you have used the default ArchiCAD 10 Library, and your own custom library called "My Objects". When opening this project in ARchiCAD 11, you should:

• unload the ArchiCAD 10 Library
• load the ArchiCAD 11 Library
• load the ArchiCAD 10 Library subset
• load the "My Objects" library

How the Library Subset works

The ArchiCAD 11 Library has many improvements compared to the ArchiCAD 10 library, therefore many library parts that "look the same" are in fact not compatible with each other. The ArchiCAD 10 Library Subset contains all ArchiCAD 10 objects that are not compatible with their ArchiCAD 11 counterpart. Such objects have a different identifier (GUID) and a different name in ArchiCAD 11, therefore the ArchiCAD 11 library part will not substitute the ArchiCAD 10 library part. Such objects will be loaded from the ArchiCAD 10 Library Subset.

There are some objects that are compatible between versions. These - although have a different name in ArchiCAD 11 - have the same GUID in both libraries. Such objects are not included in the ArchiCAD 10 Subset Library, and are loaded from the ArchiCAD 11 Library.

Benefits of using the Library Subset

• You can start using the new, improved ArchiCAD Library 11 objects in files you migrated from ArchiCAD 10

• The objects which you already placed in AC10 will appear correctly
• There will not be any unwanted duplicates (as it happens when you load both the full ArchiCAD 10 and 11 Library at the same time)
