Feature Comparison between ArchiCAD 9 to ArchiCAD 10

Integrated Design and Documentation Workflow

Enhanced Documentation Output

1. Printing and Plotting working and settings

With ArchiCAD 9, you can print or plot from either ArchiCAD or PlotMaker, yet you will see different dialogs and options in each application (e.g. PlotMaker 9 does not offer Header/Footer printing or a Print Marquee option, nor can Text & Markers be resized).
In ArchiCAD 10, the Printing and Plotting Dialogs have been unified for printing/plotting Model Views and Layouts. So Header/Footer and Marquee Area printing is available for Layouts, too. A new option is to print/plot in Hairline, regardless on On-Screen View Options. Text & Marker resizing is also available for printing/plotting of both Model Views and Layouts. Finally, all options have been placed into one Dialog, so that you do not have to go to Print/Plot Options for additional settings.
Since MultiPaper Layouts are not supported in ArchiCAD 10, this option was taken out from Printing/Plotting Options.

2. Line Weights while Printing

The way printing was done was different in ArchiCAD 9 and PlotMaker 9 in one aspect. In ArchiCAD 9, line weights were printed based on what was defined in the Display Options Dialog of ArchiCAD. On the contrary, in PlotMaker 9, printing was always done using True Weight for lines no matter what was set in its Display Settings.
Since the two programs are integrated in ArchiCAD 10, this was modified.
The way it works in this version is that the True Weight On-Screen Display option has no effect on how line weights are printed (this is why it is located among On-Screen Display options, as it does not affect output). As default, all line weights are printed as True Weight unless the Hairline checkbox is checked in the Print Dialog, in which case line weights are printed as hairline.

3. Publishing Model Views and Layouts

In ArchiCAD 9, Model Views are located in PLN Files; Layout Books are located in LBK Files. These have to be published separately.
In ArchiCAD 10, Model Views and Layouts can be published at the same time. When creating Publisher Sets, you can place them into the same Publisher Set and by publishing the Set, they will be created concurrently.
